Pittsburg boys team finished in 2nd place at the Iola Cross Country Invitational. Pittsburg was lead overall winner Cameron Jefferson. Cameron won the race in 18:12 which was 8 seconds ahead of second place runner and 26 seconds ahead of the 3rd place runner. Cameron continues to get better each race. AJ Ortiz ran another solid race and finished in 12th (19:59). Cole Jameson’s hard work is paying off as he is getting better as the season goes on and he finished in 17th (20:14). The other runners for us all had good performances and they are Homer Urias 25th (21:27) and Juday Powers 29th (22:49).
The girls team also had good performances at Iola as we only ran 4 girls in the varsity race and they all finished in the top 16. Rebeccah Jones once again led the way finishing in 9th (24:09) and was followed closely by Makayla Keller in 10th (24:17). Kara Frech 15th (25:20) and Lola Southard 16th (25:43) also had good races for us.
Leading the way in the JV girls 4k race for us was Sydney Nicklaus 12th (21:55) and Tana Luther 20th (23:21)
Abe Alonso finished in 4th with a time of 17:01 in the JV boys 4k race. Jonathan Howard was the next Dragon finisher in 9th (17:12) followed by Austin Garzone 17th (17:57), Jourdain Granere 22nd (18:33) and Tate Perona 40th (20:36)
