Game Recap

8B struggled in the begging to return the serves coming from Parsons, but pulled it together. The second set was very close, with a loss of only 2 points. Caleigh Ratzlaff had 4 big hits for the night. During the second set, many students pulled off aces while serving against Parsons. Shante Cornell, Teziah Robinson, Haley McCabe, Caleigh Ratzlaff and Shayla Estrada all had one ace in the second set. Hard to lose but we love when the girls pull together and play as a team.

Meet Recap

The dragon girls finished in first place as a team at the Girard Invitational golf tournament with a score of 384. [Maceli – 90, Beykirch – 96, VanWyck – 98, Valenzuela – 100]
It was a beautiful, sunny day and the dragons were able to put some scores together to finish with some impressive rounds for the day. Freshman Samantha Maceli shot an impressive 39 on the back nine to help out her 51 on the front to finish a medalist round of 90. Sam had 3 birdies today which helped her momentum.
Samantha Beykirch finished with a 47 – 49 for a 96 and 3rd place… her highest finish this season. Jamie Van Wyck had a 45 – 53 for a round of 98 and 5th place. Lauren Valenzuela shot a consistent 49 – 51 for a 100 and 6th place. other golfers were Hannah Holloman with a 110, Natalee Brake with a 111 and Mary Thompson with a 116.
This years dragon team score of 384 beats last season Girard tournament score of 393 by 9 strokes. Which is exactly what we need to be doing…dropping our tournament scores by improving our individual scores.

Meet Recap

Pittsburg High School finished in first place Tuesday at the SEK League tournament at Fort Scott with a score of 193. The dragons four low scores were Samantha Maceli – 43, Samantha Beykirch – 46, Mary Thompson – 50 & Natalee Brake – 52. Chanute finished in second with a 208, Independence in third with a 226 an Girard in 4th with a 275.
Individually the dragons finished in the following order. Second place (tied for first and lost on the playoff hole) Samantha Maceli with a 43. In 5th Samantha Beykirch with a 48, in 7th place was Mary Thompson with a 50 and in 10th place was Natalee Brake with a 53. Other Dragons were Jamie VanWyck in 12th with a 56 and Hannah Holloman in 14th with a 58.
We had enough decent rounds today to make a solid team score and having four place in the top ten is great. We are still coming across skills and situations that we need to improve on, but that what we need to do. Keep working on skills and situations to improve our scores.
We play at the Girard tournament on Thursday and Parsons – Katy on Monday.
