Meet Recap

The Pittsburg High School girls golf team captured first place at the Parsons – Katy SEK League golf tournament on Monday with a team score of 178 strokes. (VanWyck, Maceli, Beykirch and Thompson) The dragon girls put together some great rounds of golf today, nearly matching their best team low on 9 holes of 177 at Oswego earlier this season.
Senior Jamie Van Wyck was Medalist today with her personal best score of 40. “Jamie was really dialed in today around the green and was able to thread the fairways and stayed out of the trees. It was a great round of golf for Jamie.”
Fort Scott’s Lauren Madison came in second with a 43, but Pittsburg’s Samantha Maceli was 3rd with a 44 and Samantha Beykirch was 4th with a 45. Also, Mary THompson was 8th with a 49. Natallee Brake finished with a 51 and Hannah Holloman finished with a 54.
This is the 4th straight tournament that the dragons have placed first as a team. The girls individual games have been consistent which has helped maintain our team scores.
The dragon girls travel to Carl Junctions Invitational tomorrow for 18 hole competition at Briarbrook Country Club. This is big competition for the dragons and a real challenge to keep our scores consistent. It is exciting to see what the girls can do at Briarbrook.

Game Recap

The girls played much better in both A & B games tonight. They really showed some progress. While we couldn’t quite get a win, I was pleased with their effort and the progress they have made. Serving was much better, as we only missed a few. We are looking forward to our first home game next week against Iola.

Game Recap

Tuesday night we traveled to Independence to play them and Chanute. During the B game, Grace Patterson served 6 in a row 2 times and Kanisha Reed served 8 in a row. We have really been working on serving consistently. These two really showed up. The B team won their game against Chanute, but lost to Independence.
The A team showed some progress. Alexis Shidler came in to serve 5 serves in a row. While we fell to both teams, the did a lot better and learned more.

Game Recap

8A works hard to keep us all on our toes with almost every game going into 3 sets.
Pittsburg vs. Parsons 25-23, 12-25, 7-15
The dragons looked great on the court and worked to get every play into a pass, set and hit.
Not as many aces in serving, but Maddie Narges, Molly Garzone, Cheyanne Hunt, and Emery Khafka managed to get a few in. We had lots of work at the net and Maddie had 4 big hits for the night. Lexi Shrive had some fantastic hits and we played a solid team. Parsons had great servers and we struggled to get going in the second set, but will be ready next time.

Game Recap

8A had a big night with a win against Chanute and a loss in 3 sets to Independence.

Pittsburg vs. Chanute 25-17, 25-14

Maddie Narges, Faith McGown, Emery Khafka, Molly Garzone and Cheyanne Hunt all had fantastic serves against Chanute and lots of aces. Failth McGown, Maddie Narges, and Cheyanne Hunt each had one big hit for the night. Great win 8A.

Pittsburg vs. Indy 24-26, 25-21, 14-16
All three sets were very close against Independence and the girls played hard on the court. Many aces and hits were made and they played as a great dragon team. We will work hard to get them next time we face them.
