Meet Recap

The Pittsburg High School girls golf team captured first place at the Parsons – Katy SEK League golf tournament on Monday with a team score of 178 strokes. (VanWyck, Maceli, Beykirch and Thompson) The dragon girls put together some great rounds of golf today, nearly matching their best team low on 9 holes of 177 at Oswego earlier this season.
Senior Jamie Van Wyck was Medalist today with her personal best score of 40. “Jamie was really dialed in today around the green and was able to thread the fairways and stayed out of the trees. It was a great round of golf for Jamie.”
Fort Scott’s Lauren Madison came in second with a 43, but Pittsburg’s Samantha Maceli was 3rd with a 44 and Samantha Beykirch was 4th with a 45. Also, Mary THompson was 8th with a 49. Natallee Brake finished with a 51 and Hannah Holloman finished with a 54.
This is the 4th straight tournament that the dragons have placed first as a team. The girls individual games have been consistent which has helped maintain our team scores.
The dragon girls travel to Carl Junctions Invitational tomorrow for 18 hole competition at Briarbrook Country Club. This is big competition for the dragons and a real challenge to keep our scores consistent. It is exciting to see what the girls can do at Briarbrook.
