Meet Recap

Pittsburg Girls Golf placed first in a non-league tournament Monday at Chanute CC. The dragons put together scores by Maceli, VanWyck, Valenzuela and Thompson to shot an all time low of 362. Pittsburg’s Samantha Maceli shot a fantastic 41 – 39 = 80 to earn medalist honors by eight strokes. Jamie VanWyck shot an 88 for second place, Fort Scott’s Lauren Madison took third with a 93 and Pittsburg’s Lauren Valenzuela shot a 94 for fourth place. Mary Thompson shot a 100 (personal best score) for eleventh place. Natalee Brake finished with 103 ( a personal best) for 19th and Samantha Beykirch was 22nd with a 106.
With all of the rain we had this weekend and this morning, the course was in great shape and besides a light shower while we were warming up it was clear and sunny for the tournament. The dragon girls had some ups and downs, but are continuing to play consistent from front to back nine.
Freshman Sam Maceli had a great day on the course, finishing with 2 birdies, 8 pars, 6 bogies, & 2 double bogies.
All the dragons are improving which is exciting with us going into regional’s in a couple of weeks. Really proud of our accomplishments thus far in the season.
