Meet Recap

The Pittsburg High School Girls golf team placed second at the Carl Junction Invitational on Tuesday at Briarbrook Country Club with a score of 382. The dragons lost to the host team today by six strokes; after finishing in fifth place last season with a 393 team score. The dragon girls are very pleased with a second place finish, because it took the team to improve individual scores to make it happen.

Samantha Maceli finished in 8th with a 46 – 48 = 94 and Lauren Valenzuela finished in 10th place with a 45 – 52 = 97. Mary Thompson finished with a personal best round of 101 and Hannah Holloman also had a personal best tournament round of 102.
Carl Junctions Jenna Teeter shot a 75 for first place, Joplin’s Anna Iorio was second with a 78, Carl Junctions Kylie Carnes was third with an 80. Webb CIty’s Emily Oathout also shot a 90 tieing VanWyck for 4th place.
“The girls were very excited with a second place finish at the Carl Junction Touenament. It is a different level of competition and course difficulty. Two of the dragons had never played the course before and finished with solid scores.”
