Meet Recap

The team traveled to Owasso, Oklahoma on Friday to wrestle in a two day dual tournament. The competition in Oklahoma is always tough and it was nice to watch the boys grow throughout the two day event. Friday, we had a great start going 2-0 in duals, defeating a tough Bentonville, AR team and Bartlesville, OK. Our first loss was to 6X State Champions Collinsville, OK, who has won OK state the last six years and OK Dual state five of the last six years. Followed by a loss to Comanche, OK. Saturday the boys responded like a championship team winning all three dual matches and defeating Mustang, OK in a match that went back and forth until the end. These are the types of competitions that will mold a team into one unit. For us to win state, they must wrestle for each other. This dual tournament does that for us.

A.J. Lair JR, Deveron Duncan SR. and Kayne Hutchison SR. went undefeated over the two days, wrestling at a very high level each and delivered an A+ performance. Wes Jameson and Dylan Prince went 6-1. Wes wrestled outstanding. Dylan’s second loss of the year is part of his growing process. All the boys wrestled very well and fought hard in each match.

On Thursday we will go to Prairie View for a dual and then to the Chanute tournament where the top 4 ranked teams in class 5A will face off. Goddard #1, Ark City #2, Mill Valley #3 and Pittsburg #4. We will continue to challenge ourselves throughout the remainder of the season.
